AIG Europe has acquired Direct Travel Insurance Services, one of the UK's leading independent travel insurance specialists.
The business has been acquired by a wholly owned subsidiary of AIG Europe (UK) Limited, now named Direct Travel Insurance Services Limited (DTSL). The business will remain in Shoreham by Sea and will continue to trade under the Direct Travel Insurance brand. Mark Shaw, the current managing partner, will remain with the new company in the role of Managing Director.
Commenting on the agreement to acquire DTIS, AIG Europe’s managing director, Dan Glaser said: "Direct Travel Insurance Services is a highly successful business known for excellent customer service and competitively priced, comprehensive cover. This acquisition supports AIG Europe’s existing position in the UK travel insurance market and provides a further outlet for our underwriting, claims management and distribution skills."
Mark Shaw said: "We are delighted to become a part of AIG Europe. DTIS will undoubtedly benefit from AIG’s insurance knowledge and experience as we continue to enhance the quality of products and level of service we offer our customers."
Direct Travel Insurance Services was established in late 1992 and have since arranged travel insurance for over four and a half million travellers.
