Admiral insurance has been named the UK’s tenth best workplace in the Great Place to Work Institute UK’s annual rankings. The firm secured the highest ranking of any organisation working in the insurance and financial services sector. Admiral has secured laureate status, awarded to companies that feature on the list for at least five consecutive years. The organisation has featured in the list of top fifty best workplaces in the UK and Europe every year since 2002.
The organisation was commended for ensuring senior management are engaged with all levels of the organisation, within three weeks of joining every employee meets the CEO Henry Engelhardt. Innovative recruitment policies include an Independent Recruitment Committee, composed of staff members from across the company, which makes recommendations on appointments.
The company was praised for its ‘Fork in the Road’ scheme, which promotes staff who have gone beyond the call of duty to help customers. A ‘Bright Sparks’ staff solutions scheme encourages employees to find solutions to business problems, for which they are rewarded. Admiral TV on the company intranet ensures everyone has access to the latest company presentations, announcements and advertisements.
The Great Place to Work Institute evaluates the degree of trust in relationships at organisations by analysing employee responses to its Trust Index Employee Survey and Culture Auditã management survey. The research encompasses key metrics that determine a leading working environment, from the benefits available to employees through to levels of employee engagement with senior management.
The UK’s Best Workplaces Programme forms part of the world’s largest scheme to recognise excellence in people management.
