ACE European Group has become the tenth insurer to join e-commerce portal Imarket.
The move was hailed as a “major development” for the online service by Polaris, the company which operates Imarket.
“The addition of another major global insurance group to the portal is set to further strengthen Imarket's offer to its 2,250-strong broker community,” said Polaris.
ACE will initially use Imarket to offer a professional indemnity product to its existing broker network, with an expanded product range likely to follow.
Mark Whitehead, ACE European Group's e-commerce manager said: “We regard Imarket as an important element of our long-term e-commerce strategy. The portal will be a valuable way of giving our existing broker base convenient access to products and services, as well as reaching new business prospects.
“We are aware of a number of critical improvements to the service which will make the portal a much more user-friendly proposition for brokers – and a more attractive sales platform for insurers. It is crucial to our industry as a whole that Imarket continues to grow. We are keen to work with Polaris and member organisations to ensure its success. We certainly hope that our involvement will encourage other companies to follow suit.”
Peter Knowles, strategy and marketing director at Polaris said: “ACE European Group is a welcome addition to Imarket. A company of this size and stature will help to strengthen the portal's offer, by expanding the range of products on offer. We are looking forward to a very successful partnership.”
ACE European Group will join existing members Allianz Cornhill, AXA, Groupama, iPrism, NIG, Norwich Union, PBS Holdings, Royal & SunAlliance and Zurich.
Member companies comprise over 75% of the total UK commercial insurance capacity.
