Almost two-thirds (60%) of GPs say they have seen more patients feigning or exaggerating injuries to make a fraudulent compensation claim in the last two years, according to research by LV=. Almost nine out of 10 GPs have seen a patient who was completely inventing an injury and almost all GPs interviewed (96%) said they have been visited by someone they suspected was exaggerating an injury.

Flagstone Reinsurance’s Q1 2012 gross written premium was down 51.7% at $170.2m (£105m), compared to $352.7m in the same quarter last year. The Bermudian reinsurer reported a net income of $39.2m for the quarter, compared with a net loss of $161.2m for the first quarter of 2011. Combined operating ratio for the first quarter was 97.5%, compared with 177.6% in the first quarter of 2011.
