Holding company Acromas in consultation with employees
AA-Saga owned business Direct Choice could face up to 220 redundancies after confirming plans to shut two offices in Suffolk and relocate to Kent.
Acromas, the holding company set up following the merger of AA and Saga in 2007, informed staff yesterday at the online broker business, also known as Taylor Price & Co, of its plan to close the offices in Newmarket and Ipswich.
Staff have been offered a redundancy package or relocation to its new offices in Folkestone.
Direct Choice was acquired by The AA in 2006 prior to the car insurance giant’s £6.15bn merger with Saga.
A spokesman for Acromas said the relocation follows a decision to move staff out of their current buildings and bring them together in one office.
“We would be delighted if all 220 people decided to move to Kent,” he said. “But it is inevitable that for some the prospect of moving will not be right for them.”
It is hoped the move will be completed by July.
