One sport's fan has brought a whole new meaning to the song, "we're football crazy, we're football mad".

Paul Hucker, from Ipswich, has taken out a £100 policy through broker British Insurance, to cover against any trauma caused if England are knocked out of the World Cup early. Hucker will get £1m in damages if five sports commentators judge that the team's exit is premature and if he can provide medical evidence to show he has suffered mental trauma.

For £1m Backchat suspects that most people will endure the mental trauma of watching England underperform again on the world stage.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
