Pierre Wauthier discovered at home on Monday night
Zurich Insurance’s chief financial officer Pierre Wauthier was found dead in his home on Monday night. The announcement was made by the global insurance company after trading closed on Monday.
Police are investigating the death of Wauthier, who was 53, and have yet to release further details, although no third-party involvement has been found.
“The board of directors, group executive committee and all of our colleagues are deeply saddened and pass on our condolences to the family and relatives,” said chief executive Martin Senn in a statement.
Wauthier joined Zurich Insurance in 1996 and moved into his role as chief financial officer in 2011. Zurich Insurance group controller Vibhu Sharma will take over as interim CFO.
Wauthier, a married father of two, has held a number of roles at the insurer, including group treasurer and head of centrally managed businesses before taking up his role as chief financial officer. Before joining Zurich Insurance, Wauthier worked at JP Morgan Chase and Co. and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
