Ex Domino’s Pizza boss will lead over-50s insurer to IPO
Domino’s Pizza boss Lance Batchelor has been named chief executive of Saga.
Batchelor will take up the role in May and work with Andrew Goodsell, chief executive of parent company Acromas, to lead Saga to public flotation.
He was added to the FCA register as a director of Saga Services and Direct Choice last month.
Andrew Strong, chief executive at sister company AA will also move to a Saga to help with the flotation.
Goodsell told The Sunday Times: “Lance brings a lot of interesting skills to the party.”
Batchelor told the Financial Times: “Saga is five times the size of Domino’s and offered me a fantastic leadership opportunity.”
The role will be Batchelor’s first in insurance. He has run Domino’s Pizza for two years and before that ran Tesco Mobile. He was previously UK marketing director at Vodafone and held senior marketing roles at Procter & Gamble.
Shares in Domino’s Pizza fell 9% on Friday when Batchelor’s resignation was announced.
Goodsell last month said he expects Saga to float in the next 12 to 24 months.
