Insurer will move bulk of operations to Manchester in July
RSA is to vacate its Croydon office in July this year in a move that will lead to more than 90 redundancies. The insurer is relocating the majority of its services to Manchester.
RSA currently employs 105 staff at its Emerald House office in Croydon, but decided last month to move its mid-market trading and UK mid-market operations to Manchester.
Redundancy consultations are currently underway and some staff are likely to be offered new roles in Manchester, although the insurer was unable to put a figure on how many.
RSA said it hoped to open a smaller office in Croydon as part of a scaled back market trading operation accommodating 23 staff. It insisted that brokers and customers would not be adversely affected by the changes.
An RSA statement said: “Following a comprehensive review, we have taken the decision to vacate our current office in Croydon and move to a smaller market trading site.
“This will unfortunately put 93 roles at risk of redundancy, but many will either be redeployed or take up vacancies in the new office. We are making every effort to support our staff affected by this.”
