Gatwick Airport at risk
The Environment Agency has issued 36 flood alerts in England and Wales following heavy rain.
Gatwick Airport is in the area most at risk, as it is close to the River Mole in Surrey, the agency said.
The agency said: “Heavy and prolonged rainfall overnight has caused river levels to rise in the River Mole. In the Charlwood and Hookwood area the levels are still rising, and will continue to rise through this morning. This is likely to cause some flooding to properties.”
