A round-up of the latest insurance stories online
When it was unveiled in all its glory at the start of the year, the Jackson Review was a major traffic driver on the website. This week, Jackson returned to Weblog with a splash, as the most clicked story. It followed our story detailing the launch of the government’s consultation on key reforms recommended by Lord Jackson’s review of civil litigation costs back in January.
The review was not to everyone’s taste and there could be more broken hearts when consultation ends on Valentine’s Day next year. Online readers will no doubt be on the alert for further developments.
Solvency II is another area occupying industry minds, so it was no surprise that our latest photo gallery, featuring snaps from our recent roundtable of Solvency II experts, ranked highly this week.
Neither were we surprised when the author of another major government review affecting the insurance industry, Lord Young, resigned over comments he made claiming Britons “have never had it so good” despite the recession. Lord Young’s gaffe came one month after the Tory peer had released his long-awaited review into health and safety legislation.
The return of former Oval managing director Howard Pepper with a new business caught the eye of visitors to the site. And our story revealing that Westinsure chief executive Max Hardman is set to step down next year also received plenty of attention.
Across the web there were plenty of headlines relating to flooding in Cornwall. Videos posted on YouTube showed the extent of damage caused, which put insurers on standby. The flooding also prompted the ABI to issue advice to those affected.
