Rebuilding cost estimated at £5m
Cunningham Lindsey has sent loss adjusters to Basingstoke following a fire at a residential care home development.
The unfinished development consisted of 64 flats and a day care centre for the over 60s.
The development was completely destroyed in the fire on 10 September, and the approximate rebuilding cost is £5m. No-one was hurt in the fire.
Cunningham Lindsey is acting on behalf of Allianz UK, which insures the contractors. Site work began in January 2010, and was due for completion in April 2011.
John Huxham, lead adjuster for the client in Cunningham’s Lindsey’s Specialist Adjusting Network, said: "The development was a timber frame construction with a flat roof. The fire has effectively destroyed the building, which was already halfway through to completion.
"Our loss adjusters are currently gathering contractual information to confirm the insuring responsibilities of various parties. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the police and by forensic scientists appointed by Cunningham Lindsey."
